Michigan Vs. Notre Dame Recap

Hail to the victors Valiantly! And what a game it was. Probably the best Michigan-Notre Dame game I have ever seen in my life time. Maybe the best ever as both teams are on their way to a come back. As I watched the game I couldn't have been more nervous as each play progressed. But that is what makes a good game. It came down to the last few seconds and that is why it is a Michigan rivalry game against Notre Dame. I haven't felt that happy after a Michigan game since they beat Florida in that Capital One Bowl Game. And that crowd was just amazing from looking at the above view of it. It was definitely a Maize out. Now I won't say they are completely back until they are 5-0 and beat Michigan State at State. That will be another big game to watch and if they beat them watch out Ohio State here we come! Just looked at the Ap Top 25 and Michigan is now number 25 and they booted Notre out of the top 25. Got to love that!

Key Players For Michigan to Win
Tate Forcier
Once again Tate Forcier had fenominal game. His game included 23 passes for 240 yards with 2 touchdowns and one interception. Yes he does look like freshman but the way he plays, no, not at all. The way he moves around in the pocket just amazes me because he is so young and looks like he has been doing this forever. He kept them in the game late. But yes he did throw that interception in the fourth quarter but made up for that in the game winning drive with seconds left. His running ability also surprised me as he was breaking ankles of the Notre Dame defense. Quite a superstar. And he is only going to get better as this is his freshman year.

Brandon MinorMichigan needed a running game this week and Minor brought a pretty good one. He had 16 carries for 106 yards with one touchdown. A pretty good day and that helped the Wolverines out. He ran tough and even a had a couple of big plays which was good to see. If Michigan's run game out does their passing game like this you could see them having a good season. I say this because the Big 10 is all about the run game and Michigan is doing a good job about that. It also helps that Forcier is picking up some good rush yards as well.

Darryl StonumWell in my preview for this game I said that Stonum needs to step and make some big plays. He did not have an outstanding game but it was good. He caught 4 receptions for 54 yards with some of those being big plays. He also had a kickoff return touchdown for 94 yards. He played a pretty big role in the game for the Wolverines winning the game.

Other Points About this Game
What can I say Charlie Weis is for sure on the hot seat right now and might be looking for a job after this season. He has to do very well the rest of the season if he wants to continue to coach at Notre Dame. Michigan beating Notre Dame was very big and now Weis is going to be suffering for the rest of the season. Michigan played their hearts out and deserved to win but I really thought Notre Dame was going to win it the fourth quarter but in the end Michigan became its old self and really showed that they are able to win in big games again.

These Michigan freshman are pretty unbelievable
Coming into this year with how young Michigan is on Offense and Defense I was thinking maybe 6 or 7 wins. But after these two games against Western Michigan and Notre Dame I have really been impressed with young freshman. Tate Forcier has really surprised me with how good his pocket presence is and how moves around in it. Denard Robinson is another guy. I don't ever see him as a starting qb but I think if he moves to another position he will really help out the Wolverines. I am sure he can catch the ball with how talented he is. Aslo some of the young receivers have really stepped up and made some big plays this year so far. Some of the young guys on defense as well have done pretty good like their defensive line and some of their cornerbacks. I think after these two games I believe they will have a good chance of going 7-0 when they meet Penn State here in Ann Arbor. Michigan State doesn't really look good after that loss against Central Michigan and Iowa did not look impressive at all with their win against Iowa State. So I see them beating them but they will be both good games as they are away games.

Maize and Blue Vs. The Irish Preview

Couldn't be more happy this week as Michigan is at home playing their fist rivalry game of the year against Notre Dame and this game lands on my birthday this year. It's going to be great weekend and I am really going to enjoy it. Since 1887 they have been playing each other off and on for a total of 36 games and this one being the 37th. Michigan leads the series 20-15-1. Luckily we will have this great rivalry game until 2031 with that extension in 2007. I look forward to this game every year just like the Ohio state game just because how aggressive us fans get during these weekends.

Keys for Michigan to Win
Well I think Michigan can really win this game the way things are set up. They are at home and are riding on a lot of momentum from last week beating Western Michigan 31-7. In which a lot of people thought they were going to be upset by the Broncos. But they proved people wrong and just toyed with them with their great young offensive talent. They got Minor back at around 75% to 80% health wise and should be ready for the game. He will be a big help as he runs tough and he has his speedy back-up Carlos Brown to help the load. Even though Hemingway does not look good for the start, because of a sprained ankle, I believe that the other young talented receivers will step up abd make some plays. Another key for Michigan to win is if they get Forcier and Robinson in some plays together to really get that offense going. Tate really knows this offense good and he should dump it off to Robinson to make a big play happen. I also believe that Michigan needs to have less penalties in this game compared to last and have to stay away from turnovers.

Michigan's defense is got to be very fast out there this week just like the first half of last week when every player was at the ball when the whistle blew. I feel that Graham should be the play-maker and try to cause a fumble in the backfield. I know he is hungry for a win in his Senior year against Notre Dame and Notre Dame should see him as a threat because he is one of the elites on the defensive side in the Big 10. But I feel that Michigan's cornerbacks and safeties are under a lot of pressure with those great Notre Dame receivers they will have to face. If they contain them it will be an easy win for the Wolverines.

My Thoughts of Notre Dame

I see Notre Dame as one of the most explosive offenses out there right now with Clausen as Qb and him having those talented receivers throw to. Not to mention they have a pretty good o-line.
But I still think they are really over-rated right now because they lack defense and don't really have a solid running game. They depend on Clausen too much in which that might get them into trouble this year. And as for Lou Houltz(from Espn) saying they are going to the National title game he is a crazy old man. No chance of them getting there, Defense wins championships.

My Prediction

It's going to be a great game this weekend and I see a lot of scoring going on in this game with these two offenses. It's probably going to be a back and forth game until a couple of big plays happen. Michigan will probably have another big play with Denard Robinson as he will be the X-factor for every game he is in and for Notre Dame will make a few big plays with their receivers. If Michigan strikes first I think they have a good chance of winning this game once they get the crowd going crazy as last week was the loudest I have heard it in a couple of years.
My score prediction is Michigan winning 38-24. Yes I predicted a high score but these defenses will be really challenged this week.

Two videos from the Michigan game from last weeko

Yes I am a little late on putting these up here but been busy this week but I will post them now. The two videos are when Zoltan Mesko fell in the beginning of the game when he hit the Go Blue banner and fell down in which the offensive lineman behind him was agile enough to jump over him without causing too much damage. It could of been really bad and embarrassing for Michigan but I do feel bad for Mesko. The other video is of Denard Robinson's touchdown.

Michigan Vs. Western Michigan Recap

Every Michigan player and fan was happy with the win over Western Michigan 31-7. The picture above explains it all. Just like what I said they should do is start out fast and that is exactly what they did. Their first drive they marched down the field and then Tate Forcier threw to wide receiver Junior Hemingway for a 28 Yd touchdown. After that they were in cruise control the whole way with their defense playing tough. In the first half they led 31-0 in which in this game they were 13 points underdogs. In the second half they really did not do muc h, they just put in different players to see how they do. In the fourth quarter Western Michigan finally got on the board with a long pass from Hiller to Nunez. Michigan really surprised everybody on how great they are learning the spread offense.

Key players in the game

Tate Forcier
Tate had a great game. He had no interceptions, threw for 179 Yds, and had 3 touchdowns. He definantly did not look like a true freshman when he was playing and he did not make any bad mistakes. I see him the quarterback of the future and I hope he starts every game from here on and should play the whole game unless they put a beating on teams like they did on Western Michigan. He really impressed everyone including me on how he looks like he has been playing college ball for years. I like his comment, "I don't get nervous," "Never have, and I don't think I ever will." Great to here that from a true freshman!

Denard Robinson
Denard Robinson is a SUPERSTAR! No I don't think he is a quarterback that should start or even get good time at that position but he should be on the field quite a bit doing something else like in the slot. But he might just be the fastest player to ever play for Michigan. When he scored that touchdown going right then to left I was going crazy, wish I could of been there. I sure do love this guy playing for the Wolverines and I see future big plays coming from this guy.

Kevin Koger
Man this play really finished the game for the Wolverines. This spectacular catch from Kevin Kogle happened near the end of the game and made the fans go crazy!! I recently heard news of this guy saying that he is a play maker and he did just that with that one-handed catch. This should definantly be on ESPN's top ten plays of the week. He also scored earlier in the game with a 7 yard pass from Forcier in the second quarter. He is only a sophomore and
plays tight-end. I predict many touchdowns from this kid when they get in the red-zone.

Junior Hemingway
He was Forcier's main target scoring 2 touchdowns and catching 5 receptions for 109 Yds. I thought Hemingway had a great game, and he showed for things to come with how much skill he has. He has great speed and good hands. Hopefully next week he does the same thing against Notre Dame.

Other Points

The defense looked really good and was getting to the ball real fast. But they need to sharpen up for next week against Notre Dame because they have a great offense. I thought the run game was alright but if Brandon Minor is healthy next week look for it to get better. Kicking and punting look great also. Mesko punted good and Jason Olesnavage hit a 44 Yd field goal which is good news for the Wolverines. All in all I thought the Wolverines looked great and need to continue their momentum to next week. Look for my preview for the game against Notre Dame on this Thursday or Friday.

Michigan Vs. Western Michigan Preview

Michigan's opening game has finally arrived and I have been waiting all summer for this. And for the past years these opening games have been scary for the Wolverines. So guys there is probably another chance for an upset this year with Western Michigan coming to Ann Arbor. The reason I am saying this is because 2 of our 3 quarterbacks( Denard Robinson & Tate Forcier) starting in this game are true freshman and the other QB( Nick Sheridan) really isn't made for the spread offense. But we will wait and see. And another thing that worries me is U-M's weak secondary going against Western Michigan's ALL-MAC Quarterback Tim Hiller. If Michigan doesn't play him right he will pick apart Michigan's Secondary. But my Prediction is that the Wolverines will WIN their first opener in two years. I believe that Michigan's Brandon Graham will make some big plays and Michigan's Linebackers will pound them. Also look for Michigan making some big plays on offense with their young and talented Wide Receivers and Quarter-backs. Their O-line is also more experienced with one year under their belt so that should help the out too. My score prediction for the game is Michigan winning 24-17 but Michigan must strike first so they get those 100,000+ fans going crazy and get the momentum on their side. It will be a great game to watch. GO BLUE!

Look for my preview for Michigan games every Thursday night or Friday morning and then I will have a review of the game every Saturday night or Sunday morning. I will also include in my review a game that I thought was the best of the weekend. So check back to my blog all the time to see what I am saying. Have a great night.

Rich-Rod might be in trouble with NCAA

Today Michigan said they are going to investigate allegations from players saying that Rich Rodriguez broke rules during the 2008-2009 season. The players are saying that their practices and off-season work-outs exceeded NCAA limits regularly. I will update when I here more news.

Rich-Rod says there will be starting 3 qbs

I recently read an article from talking about who is going to be the starting quarterback for the Wolverines. They asked Rodriguez that question and he said that all 3 quarterbacks including Forcier, Robinson and Sheridan will get snaps in the first game against Western Michigan on September 5th. I think it is alright for the first game so they can see how good each quarterback does but after that they should stick to Forcier and Robinson. Nick Sheridan is not made for the spread offense like Forcier and Robinson so they should just keep him on the sideline and let him be there for a veteran role.

What I think will happen for the first few games

This upcoming year for the Michigan Wolverines is going to be crazy yet excitefull. They will have a freshman quarterback starting and Rich-Rod is on his second season coaching the Wolverines. My prediction is that they will go 4-0 because through their first 4 games their schedule is pretty easy unless you consider their luck with division 2 teams like the last two years with Utah and App State but I think this year will be different because the o-line knows the system a little better and that will get the offense rolling. As for week 2 when they face Notre Dame, I know Rich-Rod does not want to lose to them 2 years in a row and he will have them ready to go and I know Michigan's Brandon Graham will get that fierce Michigan Defense going because he has so much energy on the field when he plays. But when week 5 rolls around when Michigan has their Big Ten opener at State, I really don't know what is going to happen. It all depends if Tate Forcier is ready with all that pressure on his back going to Michigan State. I hope Michigan's defense plays well so it takes the pressure off him so he doesn't make any stupid mistakes if he has to be out there a lot.
Please leave some comments on what you think.
Thanks and GO BLUE!
